About Soul Haul

How people tell agents who to be.

Soul Haul is a public directory of agent personality files: SOUL.md, AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, persona prompts, bot profiles and agent framework configs. Each one links back to its original.

How it works

  • Discovery. Today, souls come from public GitHub repositories and from direct submissions. Soul Haul only reads public files and never logs in anywhere.
  • Checks. Each file must be at least 150 characters of instructions written for an AI agent. Copies of the same file are merged into one entry, which shows how many places it appears.
  • Descriptions. Titles, summaries, tags and the archetype are written by an AI model (Claude) and may be imperfect. The file itself is always shown as written, apart from removed secrets and email addresses.
  • Ranking. “Top” combines how specific and crafted a personality is, the repository's stars, how widely it's been copied, and how complete its structure is. Generic files and unchanged starter templates aren't featured.
  • Review. Anything flagged as possibly unsafe, borderline, reported or submitted is checked by a person before it's listed.
  • Freshness. Listed files are re-checked weekly. Changes are recorded as versions, and files that disappear are delisted after 30 days.

API and feeds

Everything public on Soul Haul is available as JSON, readable from any origin:

  • GET /api/souls?agent=claude-code&kind=agent-rules&archetype=coding-pair&sort=top|new&page=1: a page of souls (all filters optional)
  • GET /api/souls/{slug}: one soul's metadata, with rawUrl for the file text

RSS: /rss.xml for new souls, and /agent/{slug}/rss.xml or /archetype/{slug}/rss.xml for one agent or archetype.

Authors

Files are shown in full with attribution and a link to the original. If you wrote a file and want it removed, use Remove my file; requests are honored within 72 hours and removed files are never re-indexed.
